one of my favorite things about new york is meeting and speaking with new people everyday. my fascination is not just in the fact that they are "new" to me, but that they have new ideas and different opinions than i do, and i love listening and learning from them. i stand by my own beliefs and convictions one-hundred percent, but i also think there is value in learning from everything and everyone that i can.
after all, we do seek after everything "virtuous, lovely, of good report, [and] praiseworthy," don't we?
because i meet so many different and inspiring people on a regular basis here, i decided to do this little project as a way of documenting and sharing the wisdom that is passed on to me from the strangers that i meet in this wonderful gem of a city.
essentially, this is all in an effort to more fully understand mankind.
i am surrounded here by people who do not live the same way that i do, but still have many good ideas and pieces of wisdom that i can use to enhance my own life. understanding them also helps me to appreciate other cultures more deeply and fully.
so without further ado, here is the july project:
a day by day compilation of wisdom from strangers that i meet here in new york city.
ground rules:
-they must really be strangers. i learn very important things from my church, family, friends and coworkers, but that does not count for this project.-at some point in the conversation, i must explain to the "stranger" the project and ask their permission to feature them, their name, and their wisdom publicly on this blog
-the more real the exchange, the better (ie, a full conversation - not a "hi, im doing a project- what is the most important piece of wisdom you can share with me?" type of thing..)
-oh, and 31 days of july means that there will be 31 strangers that i post about on here.
-questions? or are there things i left out? please let me know!
ok, ready? let the games begin!
