july 22: jeff, fifth avenue building manager

i met jeff one night when i was eating dinner.  it was a crowded place and there was lot of noise.  he asked me if i lived here, and i said yes, but just for the summer.  i asked him if he lived here, and he said yes, that he has for many years.  we made the connection that i work in the building that he manages.  small world, right?

he told me that there are some nasty new yorkers.  but then there are just as many really charming ones, and it is the complexity of having both that make new york everything it is.  he said not to believe in the nasty one's act so much though, because it really is just an act sometimes.

but the act just makes them miserable, and you'll see one of two things happen:  either the nasty ones get tired of acting grouchy and turn into the charming old new yorkers, or they drown in their nastiness and die in sadness.  but that breeds a younger generation of charming new yorkers, based on the fact that they never want to become like them.  so here's to the nasty ones, right?

and the wisdom that can be pulled from this?  everything is connected. be grateful for it all.  and perhaps even, call it as it is.  haha.
